Hand-embroidered towels, totes, and pillow covers. Custom names and dates welcome.
I taught fourth grade for eleven years and started embroidering to have something to do with my hands that wasn't grading. The first towel I made said HOME and I spelled it HOEM, which my sister still has framed in her kitchen. That's roughly the origin story of the shop name. I work out of the back bedroom, mostly in the evenings, and I still get a little thrill every time a custom order comes through with a name I have to look up how to spell.
I make things that go in the wash. That's the whole test. If a piece can't survive a Tuesday — a spilled coffee, a toddler, a hot cycle — then it's decoration pretending to be useful, and I'd rather make the useful thing. So I use cotton thread that won't bleed, I backstitch everything twice, and I'd rather a design be simple and last ten years than fussy and last one.
